WHO CAN JOIN?
Membership is open to men of good character and repute, irrespective of race, colour or creed. It is an essential requirement that candidates for membership should profess a belief in a ‘Supreme Being’, regardless of how they worship or address their God. Freemasons come from all walks of life and from all social and financial backgrounds. All members in a Lodge are regarded as equals, and can be assured of a warm welcome in any Lodge operating under the Irish Constitution, or overseas lodges recognised by the Grand Lodge of Ireland. Freemasons must be law-abiding citizens – a member convicted of a criminal offence being liable to expulsion from the Order.
HOW DO I JOIN?
To be accepted as a candidate, your name must be proposed and seconded by current members of the Lodge who can give assurances about your good character and whole-hearted commitment to the Three Great Principles. See "What is Freemasonry" A ballot then takes place in the Lodge to decide if the candidate’s details should go forward for scrutiny. The Committee of Inspection will decide if the candidate is to be admitted to membership, and will inform the Lodge of the outcome when scrutiny is completed. Successful candidates will be informed in writing when to attend for initiation. |
